Best Bars in Park Slope
1. Bar Louise
Elevated and chic, yet comfortable, this cocktail bar is quintessentially “Park Slope.” Pasta Louise founder Allison Arevalo’s hit the nail again with her third business in the neighborhood.
There’s a lot of familiar faces at Bar Louise; the moms say hello to each other, assured couples and teachers enjoy happy hour, which begins at 3:30pm.
Outdoor movies play in the large garden space during the summer months.
Try the smokey All the Rage, with tangy jalapeno-infused tequila and a spicy salt rim ($18). This is the sister location to Italian restaurant Pasta Louise, which as two locations in the neighborhood.
Address: 221 7th Ave, Brooklyn, NY 11215
2. Saint Eves Cocktail Bar
Saint Eves has all the characteristics of a neighborhood bar favorite. The cocktails are deep and flavorful, and uniquely combine ingredients. The Slope Oak is prepared with reposado tequila, mezcal, bittersweet amari, vermouth and tobacco bitters ($17). Pair Saint Eves with a visit to Nitehawk Cinema, which is just a 5 minute walk away. The flatbreads here slap – try the guanciale, creamy with béchamel, hearty with potatoes and sweet with caramelized onion ($23).
3. Public Records
I can’t think of a more “Brooklyn” spot than Public Records, and it’s conveniently located in Park Slope. During the day, it’s a spacious light-filled cafe and plant-based restaurant that was formerly ASPCA horse stable.
Their outdoor space is used for dartys and their adjacent space becomes a club at night. The music is usually fantastic, and the crowd is well-dressed, in vintage-seeming one-of-a-kind fits that cost more than you’d think at first glance.
4. Union Hall
Grab a couple beers on tap, play a round of bocce and relax by the warmth of the real fireplace at this neighborhood favorite hideout. The underground comedy shows are not to be missed.
This warehouse-turned bar is one of the best I’ve seen; they’ve retained the charm of and exhibit the depth that only an age-old venue can have.
There’s a signup sheet for bocce, but the real way to get a play is to hang around and secure your spot.
With draft beers starting at $8, Union Hall is a vibey, familiar hangout spot perfect for a weekday adventure or a Sunday scaries cure.
There’s a small back patio, too.
5. Parklife
This Persian, Mexican and Texan-inspired taqueria offers cocktails and draft beer. But what keeps us coming back are the way laid-back outdoor vibes. This is the perfect place to unwind and lean into happiness for a little while – complete with parasols and heaters. Parklife’s dishes are beautifully plated; the tacos come open-faced. With the pulpo, you’ll find sliced octopus with saffron rice, tangy barberry and lentils – zested with yuzu and all abroad a crispy blue corn tortilla.
6. Kick Axe Throwing
Bored of your typical date night? Space is a little tight, but even if you seriously don’t kick axe at axe throwing (that’s me!), it’s a jolly good time. The swanky interior gives mountain cabin. The service is passionate and fun. Enjoy a beer on tap ($6-9) and maybe get your hands on a cheesesteak slider ($16) as you aim for the center target or try your best at hitting an alien. There’s tons of axe games to pick from, which can get a little confusing but keeps the whole experience fresh. During busier times, you might get paired with another group, but that all adds to the wholesome fun. At $34 per person, it’s not the cheapest activity, but the 75 minute sessions are plenty long (this includes 10-15 minutes of safety training).
