If you’re ever in the area, these are the 10 Best Coffee Shops in NoMad you need to try…
NoMad, an acronym for “North of Madison Square Park”, sits in the heart of Manhattan. With KTown above and Flatiron below, NoMad is near many great hotels and restaurants. Its central location makes it an ideal spot to stay in if you’re a first-time visitor—which is convenient because it’s also home to some of New York City’s best coffee stops for an early morning pick-me-up!
With Madison Square Park nearby, NoMad makes for the perfect spot to grab a cup of coffee before going for a walk in the park! Keep reading for the 10 Best Coffee Shops in NoMad.
Best Coffee Shops in NoMad
1. Felix Roasting Co.
Felix Roasting Co. is delivering an upscale coffee experience. Their store in NoMad is their flagship location, distinguished by its oval-shaped bar in the middle. The interior of this shop is absolutely stunning; it felt more like a high-end cocktail lounge or than a coffee shop to me.
They offer specialty coffee like their Deconstructed Espresso Tonic ($11) and Hickory Smoked S’mores Latte ($15). The deconstructed espresso tonic was interesting and very unique. I would’ve never thought to pair a minty, botanical tonic with espresso, but together, the flavors were sweet and aromatic. The espresso tasted like it was of the highest quality and added a slight bitterness to the drink when added to the tonic!
With their unique take on the coffee experience, Felix Roasting Co. is definitely a place for coffee enthusiasts to visit.

2. Stumptown Coffee Roasters
Stumptown Ace is located in the lobby of the Ace Hotel New York, offering a full espresso bar, drip coffee, brew-by-the-cup drinks, and cold brew! What’s cool about this location is that they also serve teas and small bites (think pastries and tacos!) that they source from nearby businesses. There is no seating area being that it was in a hotel lobby, but it makes for a cozy atmosphere with lots of natural light coming through the giant windows.
I’ve seen Stumptown coffee in a few grocery stores like Whole Foods before and it was cool to be able to enjoy it in an actual cafe. They’re a Portland-based brand, so you know the coffee will be good. I ordered the Nitro Cold Brew ($5.75). I don’t know if it was the fact that the coffee was infused with nitrogen, but it was so smooth and refreshing! The perfect non-sweet drink to cool down on a hot, humid day.
Even though Stumptown is a coffee chain, the quality of the coffee and ambiance of this particular store makes it feel as if it isn’t.

3. Paper Coffee
Paper Coffee is one of the city’s best coffee shops—yet another one in a hotel lobby! It’s a cafe in the Made Hotel with warm lighting and lots of wood accents (in my opinion, it was giving organic minimalist vibes). This is a great place with comfortable seating; the atmosphere is perfect for doing some work, but the only downside is that there isn’t free wifi.
I ordered their Dirty Chai Latte ($7.50). The spice from the chai really came through in this drink and blended beautifully with the robustness of the espresso. It was such a warm and comforting drink that I could have at any time of day!
There are also a few pastries on their menu, which are worth checking out if you wanted a small bite!

4. Ground Central Coffee Company
This is the newest location of Ground Central (so new that I couldn’t find it on Yelp, but luckily Google Map had it)! They’re serving up fresh coffee at all Ground Central shops—made with a special La Colombe blend.
I got their Flat White ($5.50) and subbed soy milk as an alternative; I’ve heard that they make a great flat white with soy milk. The coffee was smooth and the velvety soy milk added a slight nuttiness that made the drink even more satisfying. They also offer pastries here, but I didn’t get any to try this time!
One thing I really loved was how there was a section in the back with a bookcase stacked with books. Next time, I’ll have to come back to do some reading here!

5. Grace Street
Grace Street is a little further up on 32nd Street in Ktown, but it’s close enough to NoMad for me to include it on this list. It’s a Korean coffeehouse that’s a super popular spot for anyone looking for a sweet treat.
I tried their Dalgona Coffee ($6.29), which is iced milk that is topped with whipped coffee made with espresso and black sugar. It instantly transported me back to quarantine times when everyone was trapped at home and whipping up their own versions of dalgona. The drink was very light and had the right amount of sweetness.
Being that I was at a dessert shop, I also had to order a few more things! We got the X.O.X.O. Shaved Snow ($15.99) and the Matcha Beignets ($10.99). The shaved snow had fresh strawberries, strawberry puree, lychee jelly, and rose syrup. It was refreshing—absolutely perfect for a hot day! The beignets came dusted with powdered sugar and a side of matcha ice cream; they were fluffy and doughy.
Grace Street is such a fun place to go for something sweet. There are great vibes and ample seating, so don’t miss out on some yummy Asian-inspired drinks and desserts!

6. Semicolon Cafe
Semicolon Cafe is one of the best cafes serving up delicious AND aesthetic fare. They’re known for their egg sandwiches, but also have a variety of tea and coffee drinks. The cafe had a lovely atmosphere; it was bright and spacious with an upstairs level that offered more seating. There were many remote workers when I visited, so next time I’m back, I’m definitely bringing my laptop!
I got the Matcha Bomb Specialty Latte ($6), which I believe is their take on a dirty matcha (matcha latte topped with espresso). It had the perfect balance between the matcha and coffee flavors, as I could really taste both.
My friends ordered the BELT Sandwich ($11) and the Ham Sandwich ($11). Each sandwich consisted of a choice of main, scrambled eggs, tomato, lettuce, and sauce between two brioche slices. They both raved about the sandwiches they ordered, saying that brioche was so soft and fluffy.
After all the bagel sandwiches you’re probably going to have when visiting the city, come to Semicolon Cafe for brioche ones instead!

7. Caffè Panna
Caffè Panna is known for their ice cream, but did you know that they also serve coffee? And if you want both, they have affogato sundaes—ice cream drenched in espresso, drizzles, crunch, and panna cotta.
I’m not exaggerating when I say that this is the best ice cream in NYC (maybe even the best I’ve ever had). Their menu has seven classic flavors that are permanent and five that rotate weekly. When I visited last summer, I got the Regular ($7) with 2 scoops: Vanilla and Pretzel and Cheese that was all topped with an olive oil drizzle, sea salt, and panna cotta. The panna cotta really adds something special: a lovely creaminess reminiscent of a richer whipped cream. It was SOOOO good. Once the weather gets above 80 degrees, you can catch me there all the time.
If you’re just looking for coffee (but with a little more oomph!), they have Caffe Con Panna ($4.50). It’s espresso with a dollop of freshly whipped panna, so there’s an addition of milkiness and creaminess.
One thing to note is that they’re only closed on Monday and Tuesday because they’re making ice cream for the week then. So if you’re only here on those days, you have no choice but to extend your trip!

8. Tous Les Jours
Tous Les Jours is a French-Asian bakery chain known for their breads and cakes (I would frequent their stores back in Los Angeles). I was really craving cake one day, so I stopped by Tous Les Jours to grab a slice. Of all the times I’ve been there, I never realized they also had coffee—that meant I had to try it.
I ordered the Iced Tiramisu Latte ($6.95) to go along with my Mango Cloud Piece ($7.25). It had a generous amount of cocoa powder on top—much like an actual tiramisu cake slice. The espresso flavor wasn’t too overpowering and the cream was SO good because it reminded me of cheese foam. The cake was bursting with mango flavor and the cream tasted of freshly whipped cream with a touch of sugar; one of the reasons why I prefer Asian desserts is because they always have the perfect balance of sweetness!
I’m usually wary of coffee chains because they can be inconsistent, but Tous Les Jours has consistently impressed me with the quality and taste of their items!
